Ezekiel 37:3
He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “O Sovereign Lord, you alone know.”
Are you so dead to God that you question the ability to ever feel “alive in Christ” again? Do your prayers, when you get around to saying them, feel as if they’re pointless and insincere? Do words come out of your mouth, but seemingly vanish into the great unknown?
Be encouraged. You are not alone in your emptiness. Many mature Christians have fallen into this same state of confusion and lived to tell about it. They experienced the joy of salvation, only to fall into a steady decline, leading to the same dried up state that you are in now. There is hope in a God who can raise even the driest of bones up as the greatest of armies.
This is exactly the message that God gave to His prophet in Ezekiel thirty-seven. The entire nation of Israel could be compared to a valley of dried up bones, nothing more than an awful reminder of past failures. An army of dead and deceased, no longer the soldiers of the Lord, but only dried up bones decaying in the ground. And yet, our God asked Ezekiel, “Son of man, can these bones live?” The answer was in the affirmative.
You are a child of the Most High God. There is nothing that He cannot do. Regardless of your current situation, you must believe that He will deliver you from the dark confines of your self-made grave. He will do this so that you will know He is God. Don’t give up. If you sincerely wish to have life again, pray to the Lord and He will undoubtedly answer your prayers.
