Ephesians 1:3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. With the sound of His voice there appeared soil and water. Grass, trees and wild animals filled His earth. But nothing was more special to Him than humanity. We were created for Him. He was to be our Father and we were to be His children. There was no sin, no religion and no strife, only the peace of a perfect relationship between the Creator and His creation.
From the beginning of time you have been on the Father’s mind. Ephesians 1:4 proclaims that you were chosen before the foundation of the world. Don’t ever forget that God created you with a purpose. You were not simply loved by Him because you were born; rather, you were born because He loved you. Thrust into a sinful world, you were born as a slave to sin, separated from your Creator. In His perfect wisdom, before there was time, God the Father was aware of your sin and the need to be reunited with Him. The Lord desired a relationship with you so deeply that He was willing to create you with the foreknowledge that your creation would lead to the death of His only Son. But with great sacrifice comes great reward; with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ came your death to sin and your resurrection of that perfect relationship with the Father. It is in light of this that Paul proclaims, “He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will” (Ephesians 1:5).
Are you living your life according to the greatness of our God? Have you forgotten that the Creator of everything you see is in love with you? Ephesians 1:3 says that we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. Through Christ, you have been presented with a new life. Your old nature of sin has died and you are a completely new creation. Once separated from your heavenly Father by the sinfulness of this world, you are now a saint (Ephesians 1:1), separated from the world by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. You are pure and holy through though Him.
I challenge you to live as a saint today. Among the spiritual blessing that you have been given through Jesus Christ exists the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Without the “kind intention of His will” (Ephesians 1:6), it would never be possible for you to experience love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness or self-control. Absent of the Father’s blessings in Christ you would still be in debt to the desires of your flesh (Galatians 5:19-21). I challenge you to walk today as a saint, chosen by the Creator of the universe and loved by Jesus Christ. You are holy and blessed through the death of Jesus. Believe it. Claim it. Live it!
