It Won’t Hurt,I Promise, Pt. 4

May 28th, 2009

The Personal Testimony of June Faulkner

John 10:27-30

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”

Satan fought for years to keep me from living out God’s plan for my life. He may be doing the same to you.

Most of the time when you hear stories like mine you hear about dramatic wake-up calls that bring someone back to God such as an auto accident that killed the driver’s best friend, someone getting arrested, a girl ending up pregnant, or a person overdosing on drugs. None of those things happened to me. But don’t think that means that I got away with all the stuff I did; that I got to party and have a good time and come back to God when it was convenient for me.

I didn’t get away with anything; you just couldn’t see all that I had done to myself and the damage that it caused. The way I lived ripped open my soul; all that was inside me was an open, bleeding wound.

I didn’t have a car wreck and end up in a wheelchair, but I ended up paralyzed just the same. I had paralyzed my heart and my soul. I was spiritually wrecked. As a Christian I was completely worthless because nobody could tell that I was a Christian. Satan got what he wanted. He could not take my salvation, but he could keep me from living the life God wanted for me.

I wasted years that I can’t get back and it breaks my heart now to think of all the opportunities I missed and all the things I could have done. I survived only by the grace of God.

Jesus said that God is “greater than all”.That means that He is stronger than any power Satan ever had, or ever will have, in my life. I realize now that Jesus never stopped speaking to me, I just chose not to listen. He was always there waiting for me to wake up and realize that my life was worthless if He was not in control of it, and that I could not live another day without Him.

If your life has gotten off track Jesus is still there waiting for you. If He has saved you you are His and nothing can change that. God’s love for us is unconditional. If it were not so He would never have taken me back. No matter how bad you’ve messed up, He’s still there waiting to love you and forgive you if you will just ask Him to.

“Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.” Joel 2:12-13
