Psalm 13:5
But I trust in Your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.
This verse comes at the end of the Psalm where the writer is expressing his feelings of distance from God. He feels as though his enemies are plotting to get him, and that God is silent. But this verse is the turning point, as the psalmist chooses to look at the facts instead of his feelings.
He knows that the Lord is faithful, that His love has never failed. He knows the history of God’s people; how He delivered them out of Egypt and established them as a nation in the Promised Land. This God, His love is trustworthy. Therefore, the psalmist rightly says “I trust in Your unfailing love”.
Knowing that God will deliver him, the psalmist rejoices. God’s deliverance (salvation) is so awesome, that it causes great joy to spring up within us. Trust in God’s love that is so great that He sacrificed His son for us.
