Proverbs 15:33
The fear of the Lord is the instruction for wisdom, and before honor comes humility.
I find it sad to see where the world turns for wisdom these days. As I wait in the checkout line at the grocery store (you have to do that after you get married), I cannot help but to read the covers of the magazines and the little booklets that line the shelves. Hoping to entice the customer with a last minute purchase the editors give their articles titles such as, “How to loose weight by eating fat” or “What my dog told me about the end of the world.”
While all of this seems to fall a bit on the comical side, it is obvious that the world is looking for truth. The world is looking for answers. The only problem is that they are searching in all the wrong places. It is no wonder cults such as the Jehovah’s Witnesses, New Agers, or the Mormons are able to steal the souls of so many. The real truth is this: The world will never find answers to life’s questions in a fortune cookie. Your next door neighbor… the kid that sits next to you in your first period class… these people will never find truth through false religions or the pages of “Cosmopolitan.” They will only find it through the fear and reverence of God.
Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me.” (John 14:6) This is what Solomon meant when he wrote, “The fear of the Lord is the instruction for wisdom.”
I do not know what is going on in your life right now. I do not know what kind of joy or trouble you may be facing. The truth is that it does not make a difference. The only place that you will find the answers to life’s questions is at the feet of Jesus. If you need answers seek your Bible. Seek those who know and fear the Lord. Seek the Lord Himself. James 1:5 says, “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” I pray that you will not be distracted by what the world offers as truth.
Leave the fortune cookies and the magazines where they are. The only place you will find true knowledge is in the presence of the one true God.
I love it
Very Strong and Very Encouraging
This entry about today’s modern society is very true. People are seeking answers, but they are so easily enticed by the luring words of other people instead of the one and only God that can provide us with true solutions. Thanks for your article and God bless!
