Psalm 54:4
Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is the sustainer of my soul.
She’s a pro at this, you know. One minute I think everything is going well, the next, my back’s on the ground staring up at her. Every time I think I’ve overcome the problem, wham! I’m right back where I started, rolled up in an uncomfortable position, confused and frustrated, barely escaping from the situation with only minor cuts and bruises on my hands. It’s a different attack each time, too. The enemy is smart and she knows well enough how to stump a man; every battle uncovers a new tactic I wasn’t previously aware even existed.
Okay, so my Chevy S-10 can’t honestly be considered an enemy, but she sometimes comes extremely close to fulfilling the obligations of one who hates me. Over the last couple of months I’ve found myself under the hood and behind the dashboard more times than I’d like to admit. Victory, though, has continually rested on my side of the battle line. Whether stumped by a vicious cut, two-week delays, or a stripped bolt, I always overcome, and as far-fetched as it may seem, the Lord is teaching me a lesson through all of this; Behold, God is my helper…
As David, the author this Psalm, well knew, life is full of battles and there are many days that your enemies will far outnumber your allies. On some occasions your enemy may come at you with overwhelming grief or pain; other times he may hit you with an overload of responsibly. One day it will be emotional, the next physical, and often spiritual. Regardless of the attack, though, and despite the number of enemies pursuing you at one time, Behold, God is your helper; The Lord is the sustainer of your soul.
Last night I was able to fix my truck, once again. I am still amazed by the ease of the project. This morning I have been nothing but grateful to the Lord for the resources, time, protection, and simplicity of the task. In the midst of all that Kristie and I have going on (all the “enemies” pounding at our front gate) I have been reminded once again that He who is on my side of the gate is greater than all the world on the opposite side.
I am ignorant of which enemy may currently be the loudest or the most threatening in your life. I am unaware of how long he has been there or how much damage he may have already done. Nonetheless, I am confident in this: He is weaker than the One who lives inside of you. There is nothing that Satan, your friend, schoolwork, or even a 10-year-old vehicle can do against the Lord God Almighty. God is your helper; The Lord is the sustainer of your soul. Call on Him today and see if He does not move heaven and earth to help you.
hey! during this hard times..im so excited how God will move heaven n earth for me! Praise Him!
