Proverbs 30:4
Who has ascended into heaven and descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has wrapped the waters in His garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name or His son’s name?
Surely you know!
“Your Jesus”…He called God my Jesus. The thought struck me and, before I could stop myself, I blabbered, “He may be my Jesus today, but the Bible says that one day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.”
That probably wasn’t the most gentle answer I could’ve given my unbelieving friend, but I have to say that it was the truth. You see, all too often in my life I find myself beating around the truth of the issue for the sake of not offending the person I’m talking to; all the while betraying the God that I serve by listening to the blatant lies the world accepts as truth: “We all believe in the same God, He just looks different to each of us” and “It doesn’t matter where you worship, just as long as you’re worshipping”
The growing social ideal is that all religions believe in the same God, He just looks different. Social tolerance is the only key for peace and understanding; an “all roads lead to Rome” approach to faith. I vehemently disagree!
We are told repeatedly in the scripture that the world was created by one, and only one, God. This God created everything on the earth including man. The communion of God and man was severed when sin entered the world. Because of that sin, the One and Only God sent His One and Only Son to die on a cross and shed His blood to cover our sin. He satisfied the wrath of God and through His sacrifice we are reunited with our Savior.
That is the truth; the one and only truth. All roads do not lead to Rome when it comes to our eternal fate. As a matter of fact, Christ declared that He was the way, the truth, and the life and that no man would come to the Father except through Him.
Tolerance will hardly be the theme on Judgment Day. Instead, God will part the masses and those who believed will be reunited with Him in heaven and those who did not will be cast into eternal damnation. This is a stark picture, to say the least, but on that day Jesus will no longer be just “my Jesus” or “your Jesus”; He will be proclaimed as the ruler over all creation and every knee will bow, every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
