Isaiah 43:1b-3a
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;”
Life can be scary sometimes; things happen without notice, people do unpredictable things and sometimes you’re left wondering if it’s really worth it. I used to think that people in the ministry didn’t have to worry about bad things happening to them or that they were somehow immune to the trials other people suffer, but I’ve found that just the opposite is true. I fight more battles now than ever before and even though it gets hard sometimes, it also gives me reason to rejoice, because the harder Satan fights against me the more certain I am that I’m on the right track and that I really have nothing to fear.
When you turn your life over to Christ and commit to serving Him no matter the cost, Satan really goes to work because you become dangerous to him and pose a serious threat to his plans. He’ll put every possible distraction in your way and mess with your mind until you can’t think straight, but remember that God is in control, no matter what your present situation may be telling you. God has a plan for your life and He is stronger than any power Satan can have over you.
Think of it this way: our material possessions are valuable to us because we paid for them with our money. We insure our homes and cars against theft or damage and pay for alarm systems to protect our “stuff”. How much more valuable are you to God, who bought you with His Son, paid for you with the precious currency of Jesus’ blood? He called you by name; you are His and He is yours your God, your eternal Savior, and He will always take care of you.
It’s hard for us to place a price tag on ourselves and Satan will try to keep us from believing we can be that valuable to God. We need to remember that God already proved our worth to Him when He sacrificed His Son for our sins; Jesus proved it when He went willingly to the cross. He has too much invested to ever let us go.
