1 Peter 2:21-23
This is what you are called to do, because Christ suffered for you and gave you an example to follow. So you should do as he did. He had never sinned, and he had never lied.’ (Isa. 53:9) People insulted Christ, but he did not insult them in return. Christ suffered, but he did not threaten. He let God, the one who judges rightly, take care of him.
Only one guy on Earth never sinned, never lied, never insulted anyone, and never threatened anyone. He was perfect in every sense of the word. Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, was perfect. We are called to be like Jesus. But how can we live up to someone who is perfect? Is it possible to be perfect?
Lucky for us, we do not have to worry whether we can reach perfection or not. We have a God who knows we can never be perfect. God does not expect perfection. God simply wants us to live a Christian life and be a disciple.
“Preach the Good News. Be ready at all times, and tell people what they need to do. Tell them when they are wrong. Encourage them with great patience and careful teaching.” -2 Timothy 4:2
In the last part of verse 23 we are given the most light and hope. We are told that only God judges us. God, who made us all his children, judges us. It does not matter what others think of your relationship with God, because God judges us rightly.
