Matthew 25:31
But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne.
Jesus was only days away from His crucifixion when He spoke these words to His disciples. They had little clue as to what was about to happen to their Lord. Jesus knew; it was why He had come to Jerusalem. In a matter of days His disciples would witness their King’s betrayal, torture, public humiliation and death upon a cross. It was with this in mind that Jesus comforted them with His promises. They didn’t understand them yet, but they would soon enough.
Jesus’ glory is not something that can be taken away by man’s selfish ambitions. The disciples would learn this when Jesus died on the cross. His glory can’t be stolen by man’s hatred for Him either. The religious leaders would discover this three days later with His resurrection.. Everyone else will understand the solidity of His glory at the second coming.
There will be no selfish ambition or hatred at Christ’s second coming.
Only awe.
And when the Son of Man comes, He will come in His full glory. Scripture says that He will be accompanied by all the angels. Will you be ready for such a spectacular sight? Will you be ready to honor Him on that day, or will you need to be reminded of who He really is? Where would you be if Christ returned before you finished reading this? Can you change your understanding of His glory before you go to sleep today? Make it your goal.
