Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not onto your own understanding, but in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct
your paths.
Well, I’m here. For the first time, ever, I’m on vacation. Alone. My sabbatical from life. It’s what I’ve dreamed of for years. No diapers. No cooking. No work. Just sand, water, and sun- glorious sun! Here I walk, sand between my toes, navigating around broken shells and I notice something. Now, I’ve read many a beach devotion, but I’ve never read about this- I’m walking sideways. Well, not really sideways, more of at an angle. Here’s what happens. The tides come in and the tides go out- they take away the sand, thus sloping the beach to an angle. A slanted walk – it’s a beautiful walk, but a slanted one.
I’ve had a few days to think about my faith. And you know what? I fight. I fight against a slanted Christian walk. Just like the beach is slanted, so is my faith at times. And you know what, its slanted away from God, instead of toward God. When given the option, I take the path of least resistance. Steady rolling away from Him. And that’s not good.
So here’s what I surmise… When the tides of life roll in, don’t let them erode your faith. Walk straight, better yet slant towards God. Lean towards and on Him, the creator of everything, even beach sand.
This is very good. It's great to see other people writing devotions for DD aswell. Keep it up!
