Romans 6:4
Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
Christ was sinless, and yet He suffered the penalty of death for your sin. He was born sinless, He grew up sinless, but He died stained with your guilt and transgressions. Galatians 3:13 says, “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us–for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.”
If you have been baptized into Christ Jesus (if you have accepted Him as Lord and Savior), His death to sin is your death to sin. His resurrection from the grave is your resurrection out of a life of slavery to sinfulness and into a new life of freedom with Christ.
Christ became the object of God’s wrath so that you wouldn’t have to. The sinfulness in your heart has been removed so that you no longer have the wrath of God working against you. You are no longer required to obey every sinful thought that comes to your mind.
Because Jesus rose from the dead, you too have been raised from death to a new life. You are an entirely new creation. Are you living like it?
