Proverbs 4:18
But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines brighter and brighter until the full day.
My husband and I received a free car this past weekend. That makes 3 free cars between the two of us. My parents gave me my car, his parents gave him his truck, and now that the truck is dying, my sister decided to give us her ’91 Jetta with 106,000 miles on it. I’m not by any means saying that we ride in style, but any free ride seems like luxury to me.
As I reflect on this verse in light of my present circumstances, I am reminded of all of the blessings God has bestowed on my life and I agree with the writer, “The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn.” As I think about the challenges God has placed on my life that have developed my character and as I look back at all of the ways He has provided and blessed, I can honestly say it just keeps getting better.
Though the trials may be more difficult, the suffering and the lesson is much richer. Though the level of sacrifice is greater, the freedom that comes from letting go is breath for the drowning soul. You see, so many times in my life when I’ve sought holiness before God, over the blessing of God, my heart seems to grow wider and deeper, and the path of my salvation gets brighter and more tangible.
The Creator of the universe will not settle for a self-seeking heart, but when He encounters the heart that is truly seeking Him, He lavishes His blessing and the path only gets brighter like the light of dawn.
