Psalm 34:14b
Seek peace, and pursue it.
In this world we have many things. But the one thing that seems to evade people the most is peace. Why do you think that is? Seriously, why don’t people have peace?
One reason is laid out very clearly in Isaiah 26:3. It says, “You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast because he trusts in You.” There is a key in this verse, which has just dawned on me recently. God will keep in perfect peace the person whose mind is steadfast (stays the same), because that person trusts God. In order to gain the peace that God is talking about, we need to learn to trust Him.
When I was much younger, I was hurt very badly emotionally. I didn’t know how to trust people. So when it came to my relationship with God, by the time He got to me, I was well and truly battered. I was not a very peaceful person at all. The smallest thing would happen, and I would blow up. I was worried all the time, and I never had any peace.
I believe many people today are the same way. They’re stressed out, worn out, even ill, simply because they don’t have any peace. They haven’t learned what I found out the hard way: the key to having peace is very simple. Just learn to trust God.
I know what some of you are probably saying,
“But Corallie, it’s not as easy as you say it is.”
I didn’t say it was going to be easy.
Trusting God is one of the hardest things I have ever had to learn. It’s not going to be easy… and I can tell you that for sure.
But if you ever want to have victory in this area, if you ever want to have this peace that God is talking about, you will have to learn to trust Him.
He can’t do anything in your life until you learn to trust Him. It is going to take some determination and some guts to learn to trust someone. But you can ask for God’s help, and He will give it to you (James 1:5)
If you begin to learn to trust God today, I can see some amazing things are going to happen in your life! But know this, if you start, and then give up because it is too hard, you’re wasting your time (James 1:6). Press through and you will see some awesome things happen in your life.
