Moving from their homes in the east to head onto the west, with nothing but their faith, The Fold gives a renewed sense of having second chances. Leaving their fan base in Chicago, it was pivotal to the band success to leave home to solidify their opportunity to get signed. And I am thankful. The Fold is a band that succeeds, as some of the greats, to touch a moment in the lives of their peers and make a change with their music. Focusing their talents to write relevant lyrics and songs with a steady drive, The Fold achieve in many areas. Giving their songs distinction and a sense of strength in sound, The Fold is a band deserving a listen.
With a strict belief in writing songs that can stand on their own, it is no wonder that the lyrics capture the listener so quickly. With tales of life change and self revelations, “Gravity” speaks of the personal realization of putting your faith in the hands of God: “There I was building houses on the sand…Someone I didn’t know I needed, It’s like gravity, and it’s stronger than me, I need you here.” Once again, writing songs that touch some element of the listener’s life to overcome hardships, “Backseat Driver” and “The Title Track” are calls to rise above the temporary and know that in time things will get better. The Fold does a great job writing inspiring messages in each song while maintaining a solid sound. Aided by Relient K’s front man Matt Hoopes, “I Believe You,” is telling of the temptation struggle that many of us face when turning our lives to Jesus. Lyrically, all in all, each song has been made a call to rise above the status quo and put faith in something more permanent and life changing. Through solid lyrics and stylized music, The Fold has pieced together a great CD.
Still fairly new to the music scene, The Fold is writing lyrics that are very mature. Keeping their message clear is also something that is well appreciated. The Fold has a great rock sound, and always with a good drive. Never overloading the listener with too many solos or too much wailing, The Fold set their eyes on staying around with great guitars, drums, and vocals. If you have been looking for a band somewhere between punk and heavy rock, The Fold is for you. They have the fast tempo sound when you want, and they have the more heavy and raw sound when you feel like turning it up. So stop reading this article and give them a listen!
I listen to this band all the time. They really do have some incredible lyrics.
