What a bunch of bunk! This guy sounds really bitter. Is he really suggesting that if you enjoy worshipping and applaud the band – heck – even if you prefer repetitious choruses to HIS favorite worship songs that we are commiting some grave sin? I DO agree that many church worship times are too much like concerts, with the music WAY too loud (sometimes I can't even here myself sing, much less anybody else). But I disagree with his rant on modern worship. Just because it doesn't work for him doesn't mean that it doesn't work for me. I think God could care less what kind of music we are using to worship Him – what He sees is the heart. It's not about the words we sing – it's about placing God in a position of honor and glory, singing songs of gratitude and wonder. God inhabits the praises of His people, meaning he likes to bring His presence into a worship time and live in our hearts, which uplifts us – as we uplift Him.
I think people clap at the end of worship songs because they enjoy worship. What's wrong with that?
