But Jesus turning and seeing her said, “Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well.” And at once the woman was made well.
She had been living in fear for twelve years, ostracized by her family, her friends and her community. Jewish laws prohibited anyone who was bleeding to have contact with the rest of the community. She was shadowed by her uncleanliness, forced to announce it everywhere she went.
Not this time though… This time she was willing to risk the punishment of pushing through the crowd just to touch His garment. She knew He could heal her. “But Jesus, turning and seeing her said, Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well.'” And at that very moment it was all over. No more bleeding, no more isolation, no more fear. Her faith had brought her to Jesus and His words had freed her from all pain and fear.
These same two words are now directed towards you? Has the Father drawn you to the cross of Jesus? Have you relinquished your control of eternity over to Jesus? What about your daily struggles? There is no room for fear in the Christian’s life. If you can trust your Savior with eternal security, surely you can trust Him with your daily fears. Surely you can recognize them as lies from the enemy of your soul!
I am clueless as to what anxieties control your emotions today, but I can promise that Jesus has only two words for you. “Take courage!”
