God’s Waiting Room :: Deeper Devotion

God’s Waiting Room

May 14, 2008

by Corallie Thornton

Proverbs 20:21
An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning will not be blessed at the end.

What an amazing statement! Quite often when we are waiting for a breakthrough, we want it now! We don’t want to wait… we want it yesterday.

Are you frustrated that your desire to minister is going nowhere? God gives you a promise, and you get so excited that you want to do it right away. But God doesn’t work that way. He must first establish things in you you’ll need for your ministry. If you started without these things, you wouldn’t make it.

God uses this waiting period as an establishing period in our lives. If you had your breakthrough or your ministry right away, it might not last until the end. God needs to firmly establish in you some principals, which will enable you to cope with what He has prepared for your life.

So don’t get frustrated if you seem to be going nowhere. Remember that God might be testing your endurance.

“Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.”

You know what's funny? Have you ever had that experience that when you read over something you have written, it doesn't seem as if it was you? I'm shaking my head, because I know this wasn't from me. Funny thing though, I barely remember writing it. I know I was the one who wrote it, but I don't remember it too well… :)

maybe that’s because you didn’t write it… God did! I am definitely in God’s waiting room right now. Thanks for the devotion.
