Philippians 2:5
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.
Did I get that assignment done? What time do I have to meet with him? Did Kristie feed the dogs? How long till I have to get up?
As if they were waiting for me while I slept, a barrage of thoughts hits my mind as quickly as I can open my eyes. From the first light of day until the second I fall asleep, my mind must process what seems like a million thoughts per second. If I desire to live my life for Christ, it’s imperative that I take control of those thoughts immediately.
I must be mindful of the priorities, ambitions, and selfish desires that make me who I am. Christ is my example. His mind was one of ultimate humility. He had one purpose; His birth, life, death, and resurrection all pointed to my salvation. Failure was not an option and disciplined mentality was the key to His victory.
Today I will purpose myself to imitate this mind of Christ. As quickly as I open my eyes, I will give every thought to the Lord. I will humbly allow Him to have His way with my day. Christ submitted His life to a death on a cross; surely I can crucify the selfish ambitions and pointless anxieties that distract me from doing the will of God. Today I will set aside my own priorities and look for God’s purpose. Will He wish that I become a listening ear to a friend, a source of nourishment to homeless man, or nothing more than a prayer warrior for my neighbor… chances are I’ll never know if I don’t first offer my mind to Him?
