Psalm 62:1
My soul waits in silence for God only; from Him is my salvation.
In the United States it seems that people live at such amazing speeds. I suspect that such is also the case in many parts of the world. Technology over the last one hundred years has created opportunities more than ever, to do more thing than ever, in less time than ever. The result is a constant on the go mentality that screams for a five minute break. In my own life I am often in the middle of ten different projects at any given time, not to mention helping pick up things around the house, fixing meals, and oh, yes, there is the work.at the church.
If you attach all of this to the mentality that says that we have to know and be in GOD’s will all of the time, then you have the makings of nervous breakdown in the name of Jesus. When so many people in the church live ungodly, unbiblical lives like this, is it any wonder why the teachings of the Bible can seem so unappealing?
But this is not the way of the Lord. Part of what it means to be mature in Christ is to recognise the need to slow down and just be still. While the works we do for the Kingdom of GOD may be important, in the grand scheme of things, it adds nothing to our salvation. And if we don’t do it, the work will still get done because GOD’s word does not return void.
The time is now to be still in the Lord. Let your soul be at peace and wait upon the Lord. There is nothing in the word of GOD that says that we have to figure it all out right now, nor do we have to do it all right now. If you are seeking first the Kingdom of GOD and His righteousness you must realize that to seek literally means to keep seeking. You must seek for as long a you are on this earth. Continous seeking however has a built-in implication and that is that some answers just might take some time. My suggestion would therefore be to wait silently, for the day will come soon enough when our souls shall be saved.
