Are You Burning? :: Deeper Devotion

Isaiah 6:3
” Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!”

Campfires are interesting; especially on a night in early spring. The weather is just cool enough to make the fire comfortable, and just warm enough to bring out the flying insects. Do you see where this is headed, already? Yes, I confess, I am one of those people who like to go camping just to build a fire and watch the moths divebomb the flames just to get singed and then caught in the flame. POOF! But, I like it for reasons that you may not be thinking about. It reminds me of the Holiness of GOD.

Have you ever asked yourself why the whole earth is full of GOD’s glory? Did GOD and the earth sit down one day, have a talk, and agree to let Him fill it with His glory? As ludicrous as that question may seem let me ask you something else. Are you full of GOD’s glory?

Hebrews 12:29 tells us that GOD is a consuming fire. Apart from the blood of Jesus Christ, He is to be dreaded and feared. Those who do not respect Him will be consumed like the moth. But those who draw near to Him in reverent fear and awe, covered by Christ’s redeeming blood, will, like the earth, be filled with His glory. You can not draw close to GOD without being changed by His holiness. Armed with such glorious insight, can you imagine what your life would be like if you spent one hour a day for a year basking in the glory of His holiness in fervent prayer? Can you imagine what the world would be like if the whole church did the same?
