Thinking of You

Psalm 139:17
How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them!

Imagine for a moment a mirror. Some who have peered into it before you call it a magic mirror, enchanted, even gifted. Now imagine looking into it, but instead of seeing your reflection, you see yourself through the eyes of GOD. What would you see? Love, joy, peace, patience, contentment? Or would you see anger, bitterness, resentment and contempt? The truth is you would see only who you are, wrapped in the love of GOD.

We who are GOD’s children have a Father who loves us, and sees us for who we truly are, apart from the opinion we have of ourselves. So often we are our own worst enemies. Our hearts loathe who we perceive ourselves to be, apart from the filter of GOD’s point of view. Self condemnation for the things we have done clouds the fact that we are creatures made with a purpose, and that it is His purposes and His thoughts toward us that really matter. As His children, we are covered by the blood of Jesus. The whole truth of the matter is that, our flawed perception of ourselves, outside of who we are in Christ, is an opinion without merit.

Since before there was time, GOD has had you in His mind. He has held you in his thoughts, preparing each and every step of your life. When you fail He does not seek an opportunity to punish you; His Son took care of that already. When you succeed and do something great, He sets a jewel into your crown which you will receive when you reach Heaven. He knows that as frail humans we can not handle the greatness of our rewards on this side of Glory. Everything we do is seen by our Father. He watches with joy and anticipation over His children, as we learn to embrace a Daddy who knows our every thought, and loves us anyway. His thoughts toward us, His children, are truly precious, and indeed the sum total of who we really are in Him.

“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.” 1 Corinthians 13:12
