What About That Guy?

Job 21:7
“The truth is that the wicked live to a good old age. They grow old and wealthy.”

When I was much younger in my faith, and just beginning to learn what it means to be a Christian, I used to look at the world and ask myself, Where did I miss it? I serve the Lord GOD of heaven. He is my GOD, I am His child. Wasn’t I saved so that I could live the abundant life? If so, why in the world does the GOD of all glory allow men and women who hate Him to get rich and powerful while I’m sitting here dead broke? Better yet, why does He let these wicked people get rich and powerful when their money could be used to feed poor and starving children all around the world? As I got older, though, and as my faith grew stronger, I began to realize two things. First, GOD does not equate abundant living with financial wealth, perfect health, or any other means of prosperity, as defined by man. Second, I also began to realize that the wicked were not necessarily getting richer or more powerful. They were setting themselves up for a fall.

The truth is, GOD has made the wicked for a purpose and that purpose is to be judged on the day of destruction. GOD has every right to exercise His judgment and His power (now), but He also has the right to be very patient with those who are the objects of His judgment and are fit only for destruction (Romans 9:22). So quit worrying about the prosperity of those that are wicked, and let GOD take care of them. In the mean time, make sure that you’re living your life according to the will of the Father by the might and power of His Holy Spirit. Pray and thank Him that He saw fit not to count you with those condemned, but with those who were called to the saving of the soul, for indeed you are worth more than gold!

“He has made everything appropriate in its time He has also set eternity in their heart, yet so that man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end. I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good in one’s lifetime (Ecclesiastes 3:11-13).”
