Romans 6:18
“… having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.”
If you are a Christian, and you are reading this devotional, then your opinion doesn’t matter. What opinion? Any opinion! Your opinion on the weather, politics, school, church, who should be dating whom – your opinion on these and any other subject doesn’t matter. Why does it not matter? The answer is simple. You have been bought and paid for and now you are posession owned by Jesus Christ.
Please don’t misunderstand me by these words. I am not saying that the opinions of Christians do not matter. On the contrary, they do. The problem most Christians have today, however, and the main reason why so many Christians struggle in their walk, is that they forget that they have been bought and paid for. Isaiah 43:1 says:
“But now, thus says the LORD, your Creator, O Jacob,And He who formed you, O Israel,”Do not fear, for I have redeemed (bought) you;I have called you by name; you are Mine!”
The apostle Paul spoke of the problem of spiritual ownership when he said, “…O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, “Why have you made me like this (Romans 9:20) ?”
Human beings were made to bring glory to GOD. Christians were made to bring glory to GOD through Jesus Christ. In other words, now that we who have accepted the free gift of Salvation through Jesus Christ have been saved, our soul purpose in life is to live as a slave of righteousness, and do the will of our Father. Are you living as a slave of righteousness?
