Hebrews 4:13
And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.
I know a man who once had a secret sin; something that he never told anyone about. When he went to his pastor for counseling the pastor asked him, “Would you commit this sin in front of me if came to your home?”
“Of course not”, replied the man as if he was just asked a dumb question.
“Then why”, replied the pastor, “do you commit this sin in front of Jesus.”
It’s easy to forget that when we do something someone is always watching, even if that someone is the Lord GOD. The thought of being watched by Him can be both a comfort and a reason to fear. As beleivers in Jesus we have been promised that He will be with us always (Matthew 28:29). No greater, more comforting thought comes to mind than know that the Lord GOD of Heaven will always be watching over us.
No more frightening thought, however, can be imagined than the same thing when we want our deeds to go unnoticed because we are living in sin. Ecclesiastes 12:14 tells us plainly that every sin that we try to hide will be exposed and judged.
My friend made a decision to trust the Lord and allow his sin to be exposed to his pastor before it became exposed to the world because he could no longer hide it. Today he allows his pastor to hold him accountable and no longer lives in fear of being found out by his friends nor does he fear the wrath of GOD. Instead he walks confidently, as we all should, knowing that GOD is watching over those who are His.
