Wow, I almost can't believe no one has commented on this interview. I really enjoyed it. I think that Derek Webb has a really mature spiritual outlook. I'm glad I didn't miss reading this. Thanks for posting this interview. Peace B With U...

I agree that his outlook is mature, however I feel like while we are always to be very aware of our sinfulness and "wreck-like" ness, it is also a huge part of the Christian walk to live in the joy of Jesus wiping our record clean. I'm not saying that we should live a fake happiness, but even David in the Psalms, usually will finish each one with a huge praise after listing his struggles and darkness. I don't think that Derek is wrong, I just think that there are some churches and there are some groups of fellowship where there is realness...and it is always important to seek that out. Unfortunately, many churches are superficial, but I don't think it's because they want to be, I think it's because they just don't know another way. Anyhoo, these are just my thoughts...I did very much enjoy the article...it was neat to hear real thoughts from someone whose music I've admired for many years.

I read this interview after reading about it in "Soul Journey". It is refreshing to read comments made from a sold out Christian. I especially like where he states :We should all be rightly offended, as James tells us, that we might corporately despair, lament, and weep over our sins that we might come to Jesus with nothing else because we don't have anything else." It is only when we reach that state that we can really be changed.
