I have been keeping my prayers on post-it-notes which over time were misplaced. Keeping my prayers in a journal keeps them organized by date and allows me to go back and write on top of the prayer “ANSWERED.” Thank you so much. Abundant blessings continuously overtake you.

I am beginning a prayer time with the women in my church. I like the idea of journaling, I have done it in the past, but had stopped. Any suggestions for this prayer time with these women is so welcomed. My prayer is that our church would become a house of prayer. Blessings to you!

Right now I’m going through the hardest time in my entire life. I am so broken by the mess around me. However, I keep a prayer journal and when I go back and read it I see how God has been working in my life over the past few years and cannot help but stop and give Him honor and glory. Prayer journals are a great way for us to keep our focus on Him when it is so easy to do otherwise.

This was very helpful. I have journaled semi-consistently for my entire life and was saved last year and found it natural to keep a prayer journal. Since I finished my first, it is gone and my faith has been sort of hidden and crushed for a while. However…I was looking for some organizational staying power to keep consistent as I feel it is time to come back again. Thanks for your helpful article.

I never thought about the “have a picture” of the person you pray for idea before. I’m expecting a baby and am told that she might have some chromosome problems. I have her ultra sound and I’m going to start a new journal just for her and then one for my 2 year old and then one for my husband. I really love the idea. Thank you.

I love looking back through my written prayers and journal entries to see how much God has grown me, especially during college, which was like a huge explosion of growth! While doing research for a book, I talked with a lady who said prayer journaling helped to keep her prayers real, since she really had to think about what she wrote down (as opposed to rambling, like I tend to do when praying in the early morning before a cup of coffee!).

I will be teaching a 7th grd girls class tomorrow (sub) and have been researching for a while on prayer journaling. This is something that I’ve done for years and I also use the black composition books. I have always expressed myself more deeply in writing than in spoken words. It has been a humbling experience, a joy to see prayers answered and a burden for those whom I love and know are w/o Christ. I can see how God is using the journaling of my prayers over the years. Thank you for your information and helpful tips to teach others. May the Lord continue to bless you in your ministry!

Thank you for showing me how to do this. I’ve always had trouble with prayer and keeping track of prayer requests, and with a prayer chain and group at my church this is something I needed. May others fing wisdom in this as I have.

I’m currently teaching a class on prayer and next Wednesday night (not this week), I’ll be teaching on prayer journals and how to keep one. Thanks for the suggestions and thoughts!! Thanks so much for the information. In the past I have made various attempts at prayer journaling. I am ready to more sincere and dedicated effort into it. Your thoughts really bring out the trueness of communion with God.
